Howdy

October 2, 2009

Hey there YBCAsters!

Hows it going? What are you all up to? Hope your all enjoying yourselves. As for me I am happy and I am free! Haha. For a week, a week that is almost over. Last week I had finals and now I am on my break that is soon to be over. Then just one quarter to go and I graduate!! :] Since classes have been out I’ve been soaking up the warm sunshine of ocean beach, saw an awesome dance performance by the Other Suns at our vary own YBCA, been getting lots of little things done and have by parents coming down this weekend to visit my sisters and I. So lots going on.

Tonight though I got to come on down to YBCA and document the Xu Tan’s “Keywords School”. As usual it was a dual experience. I get to be behind the camera and at the same time observe what is going on. Always a wonderful thing to be a part of. Oh, something interesting about it was that I filmed with the camera turned sideways. It is how Xu Tan likes to have his work documented. I had never filmed like that before so it was different and fun.

Well that is it for now. You all have a great weekend!

Oct 1st. 5-8pm

Week of the 14th: 10 hours

YBCA Point ‘n’ Shoot (beta test)

September 16, 2009

This week will be the first media training meeting with the voluntary YBCA staff. The plan is to teach them basic video production, storytelling techniques, and have them shoot their perspective to be included in the YBCA Inside Out series. The selected stories would be documented by that staff member and edited by me. I’m curious to see what develops, we have 10 people who have RSVP for the first meeting and I didn’t even offer any snacks or drinks, wow!

Goals of the Project

Inside:

  • Get staff trained in video production.
  • Connect the various departments at YBCA.
  • Offer all staff a chance to participate in telling their story.
  • Organize a multimedia staff across all departments.

Outside

  • Offer our audience a new insight into the world of YBCA.
  • Share stories that define who YBCA is.
  • Be transparent, connect with our audience and engage with them through our new innovated initiatives.
  • Connect with people through viral social networking.
  • Add to the YBCA Inside Out series.

Can’t you here me?

September 15, 2009

Hello there my friends!

Hows it? September is here and I am loving it! How about you? Sorry it has been a while but I am back to say hello. Interning has been a bit mellow the last two weeks but we are just warming up for more. We will be working on our Point ‘N’ Shoot series, part of our Inside Out series these next few weeks. We’ll let you know when we start putting them up!

As for me I’ve been working on my branding and portfolio website for my Portfolio class at Ai. The other day I looked at tuns of fonts on dafont.com and color pallets at colourlovers.com. I always want to see all my options and with so many it can be exciting and overwhelming. I’m getting there though. So hopefully I will have my site up and going before too long. Then I can share it with you all.

Here is a color pallet that I really liked.

can't you here me?

Body and Mind

August 31, 2009

I was amazed! Perhaps you will be too.

It is fascinating to see what can be accomplished with the body and the mind. They are both amazing tools but together even more so. When I first saw this bicyclist video I  was astounded. It starts off slow but builds up to some great feats.
